In this problem, students wire the lighting in a miniature house to meet preset specifications. These specifications can be altered to make the problem more or less complex. Students wire circuits with batteries, bulbs, and different numbers of switches. If they want to explore series and parallel circuits, a path can be lit by a string of lights wired in such a way that when a bulb burns out, the whole string does not go out (parallel circuits), or that uses the minimum amount of wire (series circuits). A materials list, teacher background information, safety practices, assessment, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Preface, Catalog of Problems, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, Image Credits, and Index.
