The article Exploring the Science Framework is all about the connections between mathematics and and the Science Framework, and the soon to be released next Generation Science Standards. While this article provides in-depth quality information there is a chart included that says it all. It lays out the connections in easy to understand blocks. Looking at the chart, it can be seen that every single science & engineering practice has a connection to at least one mathematical practice. Well thought out instruction provides the opportunity for both mathematical and science standards to be addressed in the same lesson.. The further you delve into this article; many of the connections become clearer. When we talk about Science & Engineering practice #7 Engaging in Argument from Evidence you are using the same skills needed in Constructing a Viable Argument in mathematics. In both of these practices students need to make and justify a claim in their argument that is grounded in evidence. The article is well worth the time it takes to read and understand.
