This article explains in detail how to engage students, their families, and the community in a quality school wide event similar to family science nights and science fair expositions. The authors state that the goal of the student and community exhibits is to focus on the real-life application of scientific principles through activities that reinforce science learning in the earth, life and physical sciences. These three content areas make up the three ‘rings’ of the science circus. Much like science fairs and family science nights, this is a major undertaking and time commitment. The article breaks the planning down in week increments and includes a chart with sample projects for each major area. There is even a 4th tent or ring that includes engineering technology. If one is looking for a new way to spark interest in science and bring together school, family and community members, the Science Circus is presented here for your entertainment and education!
