This chapter concludes our discussion of the science and engineering practices with a summary of the big ideas from the book and a few strategies. We revisit some important ideas about science and engineering practices we hope you have developed, weaving in some of the main messages about bringing particular science and engineering practices into our K–12 classrooms. We finish by considering some productive ways to get started or continue incorporating practices into our classrooms. One very important decision to make when further engaging in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the scientific and engineering practices is deciding how to choose or modify curriculum materials. Ideas to consider for professional development that mirror some of the suggestions we made to teachers are also provided. A list of materials, teacher background information, standards, assessment, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Editors, Contributors, Acknowledgments, and Index.
