Inviting Engineering Into the Science Lab

by: Seth Marie Westfall
edited by: Linda Froschauer

This chapter presents examples of two lessons adapted from a second-grade program to incorporate the science and engineering practices into lab activities through the use of guided inquiry, rather than the structured-inquiry approach dictated in the manual. The author is hopeful to have been able to illustrate the importance of beginning by making small but important changes to lab activities in science classes, even at the elementary level. A materials list, teacher background information, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Introduction, References, and Index.
