This chapter shares experiences introducing preschoolers and kindergarteners to engineering through an hour-long lesson about designing structures. The 5E lesson framework remains a useful tool within science education. It represents a way to situate engineering design into the familiar framework of the 5E to honor both of these methods of learning and doing. The preservice and practicing teachers involved in this lesson were able to see the students’ deep engagement, enthusiasm, and desire to problem solve. A materials list, teacher background information, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Introduction, References, and Index.
