How can patterns be used to predict the positions of the Sun, Moon, and stars? The Be a Sky Sleuth e-book helps students figure out the answer to this question by following two students, Ana and Zane, who call themselves the Sky Sleuths. The Sky Sleuths solve mysteries about the objects in the sky. The readers become the third Sky Sleuth and help Ana and Zane identify patterns in the positions and apparent movement of the Sun, Moon, and stars. Readers use a model of Earth’s rotation to determine why the Sun appears during the day. They track shadows to determine the Sun's path across the sky. When nighttime occurs, Ana and Zane investigate the night sky, including explorations of the Moon and Moon phases.

These e-books are highly interactive, self-directed learning experiences designed to augment understanding of science content. These e-books include high-resolution images, animations, videos, and interactive simulations.
